Joe, Lenny and Gus Charman
Youth give back to Traction
By Lucia Jimenez
Joe, Lenny and Gus Charman were selling homemade cookies on Australia Day on Brunswick St at New Farm Park.
It was wonderful to see such entrepreneurial spirit and our photographer enjoyed his macadamia cookie with a coffee at Savour.
Not sure what Gus’s role was other than to sample the chocolate ones and guard the money.
Despite a temperature of up to 37 degrees, they were outside fundraising for Traction, a charity that runs programs to help disengaged young people gain skills, confidence and empowerment.
Traction founder and rider Sandy Murdoch said that it was wonderful to see the kids take initiative and help out a good cause.
“It’s a community founded around helping young people, so we love to see them get involved,” Mr Murdoch said.
All cookie sales went toward the Riding for Real Momentum cycling challenge held in Adelaide from March 22 – 28.
