Breathwork for bowel cancer

Locals gathered at New Farm Park on June 14 as the Floozie Foundation hosted its first free breathwork workshop in support of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

Despite wet weather in the lead-up, around 15 people gathered in the sunshine for the community breathwork workshop led by breathwork facilitator Natalie Martinot.

Four-legged friend Pippa also joined the session, happily settling into the calming atmosphere.

The Floozie Foundation Director Belinda Hill, close friend of founder Susan Cottrell, said the turnout was encouraging for the inaugural event.

“We were a little bit nervous because of all the rain, but the actual day was beautiful,” Ms Hill said.

“It was lovely to have those people come along, and it was a really special morning.”

The workshop also highlighted the importance of supporting not only those diagnosed with cancer, but the people around them.

“Having cancer is not just about the patient,” Ms Hill said.

“It is about everyone around them and their support group. Just showing up and checking in can make such a difference.”

The Floozie Foundation hopes to build on the success of the event with more community wellbeing workshops in the future.
