New Farm Park roses take out 3rd Place in Photographic Awards
Kylie Facey’s New Farm Park Roses blossomed in third place for the 2024 Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards.
The 2024 competition theme ‘Brisbane in its best light’ inspired over 1700 submissions that revealed the people, places and experiences that make our city shine.
Snapper Nigel Cowdery was awarded first prize in the open category for his golden shot titled A Bridge Climb at Sunset, which depicted a group of afternoon climbers on the Story Bridge.
Runner up Tapash Alister picked up second place with their shot Sun, which shows a new perspective of suburban Fairfield.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said: “Brisbane is bursting with artistic talent, and these awards celebrate the people in our community that show Brisbane in its best light.
“From over 1700 submissions, seven were selected as Brisbane’s hero shots and captured scenes from across our suburbs.
“Now it’s resident’s turn to choose the winner of the People’s Choice Award and select their favourite view of Brisbane.
“The awards are a fun and free way to get out, be creative and discover all there is to see and do in Brisbane.
“We encourage all residents to get involved in the programs that make our artistic scene even better,” he said.
Voting is now open for residents to decide the final winner of the People’s Choice Award. With 25 fantastic images in the running, residents are encouraged to visit the Council website and cast their vote to crown Brisbane’s winner.
Voting for the People’s Choice Award opens on Council’s website at 10am today and will close at 4pm on Friday 16 August 2024.
Residents can also peruse the pictures in person with the People’s Choice Award finalist photos and 2024 category winners on display at the Brisbane Square Library foyer from Monday 22 July to Friday 16 August.
