At the end of last year, the What Were You Wearing (WWYW) team completed a walk around New Farm Park, aiming to end the ongoing sexual violence issue in Australia by raising awareness one step at a time.

Head of operations at WWYW, Hayley Drazic, organised the event which was attended by community members, and said it was the sense of community rather than the number of attendees which made it a success.

“We kind of always hoped for one person to show up and it’s enough reason for us to be there,” she said.

Councillor for the Gabba Ward, Trina Massey, also proudly attended and said the tireless work of the charity was reflected through the walk.

“Every conversation, every campaign, every act of education, and every walk brings us closer to a society where everyone can feel safe and supported,” Cr Massey said.

As part of their Move for Them campaign, the WWYW team moved collectively 42.2km a day for 103 days.

The number of days was chosen to commemorate the 103 women who lost their lives to domestic and sexual violence in 2024.

The 100 per cent volunteer-led charity also aims to educate those who have been impacted through healing groups in Brisbane and online; visit their webpage to find out more: www.wwywaus.org
