Poinciana at QUT campus sketch by Jane Atkinson
Brisbane’s urban sketching
By Lucia Jimenez
Brisbane locals of all different backgrounds come together each week to sketch the city’s landscapes, such as the Powerhouse, poincianas at Gardens Point and New Farm Park.
Judy Gleisner Millar has been a core part of the group since she started in 2018 and has a great love for the community it brings.
“You’re seeing your city in a different way,” Ms Millar said.
At a recent meeting, Jane Atkinson drew a landscape piece of a poinciana at the QUT gardens point campus.
“We are the kind of people who sketch for fun; we bring our sketchbooks on holidays and don’t take it too seriously,” Ms Atkinson said.
The group welcomes any new or experienced people who are interested in sketching some Brisbane landscapes with a great crew.
