Sunday, June 7 will see the Brisbane Marathon Festival take place across the CBD, Kangaroo Point, and New Farm, and will cause closures around New Farm Park.
The festival is set to cause significant disruption to the surrounding areas by way of road closure and parking restrictions for much of the day.
The New Farm Park ring road will be closed, as will surrounding roads. Access to the park will be blocked via road closures on Brunswick Street and Sydney Street which forms part of the marathon route, and the riverwalk will be closed from 4.30am – 12.45pm for exclusive use by marathon runners.
Brisbane City Council has cautioned New Farm residents to expect closures to Bowen Terrace, Oxlade Drive, the southernmost portion of Brunswick Street, the eastern half of Sydney Street, Moray Street, and Macquarie Street.
No parking will be allowed on Moray Street and Oxlade Drive.
Merthyr, Griffith, Lamington, and Gray Streets will be subject to altered traffic conditions for the duration of the festival.
New Farm Park and surrounding amenities will be inaccessible to vehicles during the road closures.
New Farm closures begin at 3:00 am June 7, and will continue until 12:45pm at latest.
Kangaroo Point residents should expect disruptions to the Story Bridge and adjacent streets, with closures to River Terrace from 3:00 to 11:00am.
Tenerife will be impacted by the New Farm closures with Vernon Terrace closed to traffic from 3:00am to 12:30pm.
Residents should also avoid motor transport through the CBD as significant traffic disruptions are in store for the area. Exact times vary by street; more information is available here.
