Brisbane’s art playground

In the heart of Fortitude Valley sits Outer Space Brisbane, a contemporary not-for-profit arts organisation dedicated to presenting weekly exhibitions and supporting the practices of emerging and mid-career artists.
Georgia Hayward, Director of Outer Space, said: “At Outer Space, our goal is to serve as a launch pad for artists, giving them the visibility they deserve and the opportunities they need to grow.”
“We’re committed to showcasing bold and diverse artistic voices while inviting the public to experience the many forms that creativity can take.”
Founded by Llewellyn Millhouse and Caity Reynolds, it initially started as an artist-run initiative for friends to run exhibitions.
Ten years later Outer Space has quickly grown into a vibrant hub where creativity flourishes.
The space provides opportunities for artists of all disciplines, from writers to visual makers to experimental installations, to develop and present their work.
Outer Space extends its reach through partnerships with Fish Lane, bringing the community unique art displays, as well as the collaborative Outer Space x Fish Lane Pop Up Markets.
The gallery also hosts after-hours DEMO nights, which include performances, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive activations.
