Bands in Parks is celebrating over 100 years of entertaining Brisbane with a free fun-filled afternoon concert by the UQ Big Band.
The initiative of Brisbane City Council, which started in 1916, Bands in Parks has been bringing free, brass, concert, jazz, orchestral, steel and swing band performances to public parks across Brisbane since that time.
Several of the community bands associated with the Brisbane City Council, including brass and military, have been part of Brisbane’s cultural life since World War I.
Enjoy an afternoon of jazz under the blossoms of the jacarandas with Brisbane City Big Band and the UQ Big Band as they present a musical showcase of swing and jazz.
12:00pm to 3:00pm| The Rotunda, New Farm Park | FREE
Brisbane is invited to come along with families, friends and picnic in tow and enjoy a free afternoon of music just as local Brisbane communities have done for the past 100 years.
